Working together to accelerate innovation against emerging infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance

IDCluster brings together and supports French stakeholders involved in developing innovative medical countermeasures to better anticipate, detect, and respond to pandemic threats.

Our ambition: to develop, structure, and accelerate projects with a strong national and international impact in the fields of emerging infectious diseases (EID) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

4 programs:

Epidemiological surveillance

Diagnosis

Prevention/vaccines

Treatments

Three types of support:

1. Simple membership

You are involved in the MIE or AMR fields and would like to join IDCluster and its network.

Membership allows you to:

  • join a national network of experts, laboratories, manufacturers, and institutions,
  • stay informed about scientific, technological, and financial opportunities,
  • access exchanges, events, and resources within the ecosystem.

Membership does not require you to submit a project, but is the first step towards collaborating with our team and identifying potential synergies.

2. Pre-acceleration

You are the owner or partner of a French project aimed at responding to pandemic threats, and which falls within one of the four ID Cluster programs: epidemiological surveillance, diagnosis, prevention/vaccines, treatments.

After submitting your application, if the project is selected, it will be included in a personalized support program to help it reach the maturity required to apply for acceleration within a maximum of two years.

Support includes:

  • mobilization of internal expertise, ID Cluster founders, and/or external experts funded by ID Cluster;
  • scientific, technological, strategic, and economic structuring;
  • development of a development plan consistent with France 2030 requirements;
  • preparation of a France 2030 funding application, once the project acceleration application has been accepted by IDCluster.

To be pre-accelerated, your project must target one or more pathogens from the ID Cluster priority list, or be based on a technology that can be rapidly deployed and adapted to a wide range of pathogens.

It must also be at least at TRL 2 to 3 maturity level, have recognized scientific data (publications, patents, etc.), and have the technological, strategic, and economic maturity to consider applying for acceleration within two years.

3. Acceleration

The acceleration program is aimed at more mature and collaborative French projects operating in the fields and programs described above and meeting the eligibility criteria defined by ID Cluster.

Eligible projects are evaluated by IDCluster’s Strategic Advisory Committee based on criteria such as:

  • The relevance of the response to priority health threats,
  • The innovative nature of the solution,
  • The robustness of the data and development strategy,
  • The consistency of the consortium and complementarity of the partners,
  • The ability to achieve critical milestones within the funding timeframe,
  • The potential impact on public health, health sovereignty, and pandemic preparedness.

The IDCluster acceleration program provides support in the same way as the pre-acceleration program (project support, mobilization of IDCluster’s internal expertise, expertise from IDCluster’s founders, and/or external expertise funded by IDCluster), but on a larger scale given the project’s more advanced stage of maturity and the financial support provided by France 2030.

To be accelerated, your project must be supported by at least two partners, have a TRL maturity level of ≥ 4, have recognized scientific data (publications, patents, etc.), and be able to propose a Target Product Profile, clinical positioning, and business model, with a preliminary competitive analysis.

It must also target one or more pathogens from the ID Cluster priority list, or be based on technology that can be rapidly deployed and adapted to a broad category of pathogens.
